Cool Off at Baguio

Baguio City! It’s been 10 years since I last went here and still pretty much remember some of the tourist spots where me and my family went and nothing much has changed. Although there are a lot more houses and hotels now.

This time, I was with my boyfriend’s family. His sister and brother-in-law arrived from the middle east and wanted to spend part of their vacation there. I brought my camera along for the trip because I know there are a lot of nature spots, but I only got a few coz my boyf carried it most of the time to take photos of the family. Anyway, here are those few shots.:)

T’was Down South

No, I didn’t go to Australia, although that is on my bucketlist. This past weekend, we had a company outing to my boss’ home town which was in Dipolog City, Zamboanga, in Mindanao which is at the bottom-ish part of the Philippines. The town we stayed in was in Dapitan City, the exile place of our national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal. But I’ll talk more about that later on.

Our trip here was both for leisure and work. We stayed at a house owned by my boss’ relative, and too bad I didn’t take a photo of it. It was a nice small place but it was designed like one of the houses in the states. They own a mango farm, not sure about the hectares but there a LOT of mango trees.

What I really liked about this province is that they have a lot of trees so the temperature here is so much cooler and the air is so refreshing that you can sit outside the veranda all day. And we were lucky because our place is a mere 5-minute walk to the public beach! It isn’t a very pretty beach but it was definitely swimmable, if you just watch out for the jellyfish swimming by, but the fact that this beach faces the beautiful sunsets everyday just makes it as picturesque as any beach resort out there.

A visit to J.Rizal’s place of exile. We had a kid as a tour guide but I think was really preoccupied with taking photos of the beautiful surroundings that I remember little details of our hero’s life here(sorry?).

After lunch that day, of course we wanted to do some serious swimming and tanning and went to the best beach Zamboanga has to offer, Dakak! Again, just a few photos since we were already so excited to take a dip, haha!

Look at that sunset on our way back.

On our last day, we got up pretty early to see some more places in this town. Went to the Rizal Park, circled around the still lake, and another stop at Sunset Boulevard.

This was my first time in Mindanao. It was definitely refreshing, that change of environment, fresh air, lots of nature. I may not be able to return, but then again, there are still a lot to explore in the Philippines.:)

IT’S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES!:D

SoFA project: Nasty Gal + Ad Campaign + Window Display

So I’ve been attending fashion school for the past 3 months and I’m telling you it’s been really GREAT and EXCITING for me. It was a real breath of fresh air for someone like me who’s been in the graphic and product design industry for few years now. I chose to go to the School of Fashion and the Arts, or more commonly known as SoFA Design Institute. I took a short course on Fashion Merchandising which focuses on the business and processes of being in the fashion retail industry because I want to start on a business. I caould only take a 3-month long course coz that was only what my schedule and boss would allow me as I am employed in a design firm.

ANYWAY… As part of the term, we were assigned to do a collection with a specific theme, brand, products, and later on we had to create a window display and advertising campaign for that brand. The teacher said we can choose and existing brand and just use their photos for the project, so we chose this really trendy vintage but hip online shop Nasty Gal.

So here’s our mood board. It was funny that almost the whole class had this tribal/aztec theme for their brands, and we were all saying “cause that’s the trend now!” to the teacher, haha!

Here’s a few of the styles we wanted for the brand. The looks are inspired by the color palettes and the geomterics of the tribal patterns, the laidback mood of music festivals and ofcouse, summer time.:)

For the ad campaign, we though of a photoshoot, but since it wasn’t a requirement, we just used our own “look photos” that seemed in the same theme of the brand. Yes that’s me,haha!

From these, I was the one who volunteered to make the window display, just because I missed doing stuff like this, and this is what I made. I had to make do with stuff from the net. Close enough?haha!

I think we got a perfect score for this, so Yay for our group! Even if we just had to talk over text and tweets to manage since we only meet once a week, I think our work came out pretty collaborated.:)

I’m thinking of taking 1 or 2 more classes but I have to check on my bank account, and my schedule, haha! But I really do enjoy studying and learning about fashion, it’s one thing that entices and excites me naturally even in my sleep.:)
